mom-mode post #199 – on scriptures on Sunday

July 8, 2012 § 3 Comments

It hasn’t been the easiest of weeks. Potty training in a different culture, extreme heat and a misunderstanding with a friend had me feeling defeated and weak. This morning during my quiet time, I was reminded of these great verses, Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians while he was in prison:

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
(Ephesians 3:14-19 ESV)

Today I’m holding on to the truth that I can plea before the Lord to strengthen me with power through his Spirit in my inner being. I can’t make potty training go away (well, I could, but only to have to revisit it again soon), I can’t make it rain so the heat would go away. I can’t make my friend see my point of view and not cast judgement. But my inner being can be strengthened, in my heart Christ can dwell through faith. The battles may try to knock me down, but I am rooted and grounded in Christ’s love.

And this, my friends, is all I needed to hear today.

Have a lovely Sunday!

Praying for all of you. I know how difficult this can be, and I can’t imagine what it would be like in a foreign land. Hold tight to this scripture and pray on!

  • Hi Pri!!

Can´t imagine how hard is to be in a foreign land for so long… but a couple weeks ago I also felt weak… and these was the verses that made me feel better, so I decided to share it with you. May the Lord be with you and give you the strength that you need day by day…

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
    2 Coríntios 4:16-18
