Good Monday everyone!

I will be taking a little break from blogging.

I need to pack up our little family, get ready for our big move back across the pond.

I have some sad goodbyes ahead, great last hugs and some yummy food (mostly bacon and jelly beans) to tend to as well.

Once we find a new apartment and get internet up and running, I promise I’ll be back to blogging.

Hopefully bringing a fresh new outlook on style, straight from Istanbul, Turkey.

I can’t wait!

I will be back real soon,

~ Priscila

Thirty-one Personal Style Favorites

April 4, 2013 § 10 Comments

Hey everyone! It’s birthday week here on the blog so we are doing something different. Instead of my usual Five Friday favorites, I’m sharing my:

It’s a little long, but I hope you don’t mind. Tomorrow is my birthday after all!

{I use affiliate links}

31. My favorite moisturizer is Aveeno. I don’t moisturize enough though.

30. These are my favorite lounge pants. If I didn’t have to get ready, I’d live in them.

29. I am forever obsessed with my mom’s wardrobe from the 70’s. She had impeccable sense of style and hand-sewed a lot of her clothing. Too bad “non-hoarding” runs in the family and I have nothing to show for it.

28. I rarely wear earrings. If I do, they are teeny tiny. That’s because I am trying to keep my earring holes from completely ripping apart. Gross, I know.

27. If I could only choose one outfit to live in for the rest of my life it would be: blacking leggings, a soft tee, a chunky scarf and leopard print flats.

26. Lucky is still one of my favorite go-to magazines for fashion inspiration but these days I look online for style tips more often than not. The Glitter Guide and WhoWhatWear are two of my favorites. Besides all my favorite fashion blogs, of course!

25. To me, a statement necklace is all I need to bring an outfit up a notch. If you look at my jewelry collection, you will mainly find necklaces, a couple of watches and a few random bracelets.

24. I was rocking the “arm party” trend back when I was kindergarten. I wore as many of those rubber bracelets as I could handle on both arms. I thought I was so cool. I wish I had a picture.

23. In fact, when it comes to accessorizing these days, I always follow Ms. Chanel’s rule:

22. I love to go thrift-shopping because you just never know what you may find.

21. I believe in wearing great perfume. I want my family to remember, years from now, my smell. I wear Prada Candy on days I’m feeling fancy and for regular days I wear this one. Don’t laugh, I got mine at Whole Foods, but it’s worth it, I promise.

20. I shop at Forever 21 for trendy pieces like this. Why shell out the big bucks for something you’re not sure you will embrace right away?

19. I’m cautious with trends. I don’t mind looking like everyone else. What I do mind is looking like everyone else ALL THE TIME.

18. I think it’s pretensions to describe my style as effortlessly chic, but that’s what I aim for anyhow.

17.I like to look polished without looking like I’m trying too hard, you know?

16. I think Gwyneth Paltrow nails the polished-but-not-trying-too-hard-look. Maybe it’s because she was the it girl of my high school years. But I love her über cool minimalist style. I even made a special Pinterest board.

15. Red lips. Always and forever. Every woman should give it a try.

14. I shop at Target and Old Navy for good basics like socks, shape underwear and gray t-shirts.

13. Having a bra-fitting is the best thing I’ve ever done for my figure. And then I did it again after having a child. My bras always fit just right and I never feel like I have to spend the day adjusting it.

12.I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t always have one navy , one white and one gray tee in my closet. These are my staples.

11. I believe in always wearing the proper footwear for the proper weather/ and or activity. When I was in college it was cool to wear flip-flops even when it was freezing outside. To me, that was pure nonsense. If my feet are comfortably warm or cool, I’m a happy girl. Wellies and snowboots are a must.

10. Just add flats to any outfit and your instantly chic.

9. Concealer, eyeliner and bronzer: My dynamic trio.

8. When I’m in Turkey I love shopping at Mango, Zara and H&M. I know we have the last two are in the States now, but not anywhere close to me.

7. My style has gone through many phases. I used to be way ‘preppier’, wear way too much color and accessorize way too much. I like this simpler self. It is much more me. I hate feeling like I’m trying to be someone else.

6. On the subject of color. I do believe in finding the right colors that work for you. Mustard should never be worn by anyone ever, and sometimes an all-black ensemble is the best thing a girl can do for herself.

5. Heather gray is my most favorite. But if I need a pop of color, I go for red or aqua blue. Or bright green.

4. I am my most comfortable when I embrace the island girl in me.

3. I always feel better when I exercise.

2. I always buy good jeans. Always. Always. Always. I live and breathe this rule.

1. But at the end of the day, this is my most favorite style tip of all:

Phew. That was long. And as a birthday gift to me, do share your most favorite personal style tip of all!

J.Crew Factory dress + brown boots + neon

April 2, 2013 § 9 Comments

why so serious?

 { dress/ boots, local boutique in Turkey (similar)/ necklace, Roses (similar)}

The husband and I are enjoying all the free babysitting we can get before we move away from family. Last week we got to spend the day in Boone, NC. Even though it was freezing, we enjoyed some fine dining and some shopping. Well, mostly I enjoyed some shopping. I got this dress because it just felt so soft and comfy.Kinda link wearing PJs all day while still looking cute and feminine. Plus it had one of my new favorite trends I’m about to embrace: neon.

I had another dress ready to wear on Easter Sunday, but the day woke up rainy and foggy so instead of ‘pretty in heels’, I went with ‘comfy in boots’. And the fog and rain are the reason why these pictures were taken in front of my MIL’s antique desk and not outside.

Since it is birthday week here on the blog…

I wrote a list of things I wanted to do before I turned thirty and I am happy to say many of those things got crossed off.

Now I’m working on a list of “things to do before I’m forty”. I want to enjoy my thirties to the max. Here’s what I have so far:

– expand our little family

– travel to London and Prague

– go scuba-diving

– start a business (involving fashion)

– write a book even if it never gets published ( I don’t know if I can handle the work it involves though)

– take O to Disneyland

– travel to Buenos Aires with my whole family

– get really super fit

– stop drinking Diet Coke

– visit any country in the continent of Australia, this way I can finally say I have been to all continents. (well except Antarctica… But I don’t really do cold!)

– open a map, close my eyes, point to a place and go there.

– learn a new sport

– learn a new language (I can’t believe I’m actually putting this down. After learning Turkish, I thought I was done. Apparently not.)

What else should I add to this list?

Can you guys tell how excited I am for this new decade? I really think thirty is the new twenty. Or thirty-one is the new twenty-one!
