Maternity Style – Instagram update

March 1, 2014 § Leave a comment

I’m not even going to apologize for the iPhone pics… It’s all I have managed these days! But I wanted to document some of my favorite outfits I wore towards the end of this pregnancy. So baby girl can see that mommy tried her best to stay stylish while feeling like a beluga whale. 🙂

Zara turtleneck (non-maternity)/ amazon.com maternity boyfriend jeans

35 weeks. Wearing my favorite maternity jeans. I got them on Amazon for 20 bucks and I love them! The only downside is that I have to wear a belly band because I got them a size too big. If I lived  in the States, I would have exchanged for a size smaller. Mommy was thinking she was going to get as big as she did with your big brother!

thrifted Ralph Lauren blazer/ Mango cargo pants (worn with a bella band)/ Gap striped shirt

{34 weeks}

Our winter has been so mild, I’ve gotten away with wearing flats and no socks! Something you will know about your mommy is that she LOVES flats and she despises socks.

P.s.: styling my hair does wonders for my ever rounding face!

Mango raincoat/ H&M plaid shirt/ Gap tee/ Pink leggings/Accessorize scarf

{36 weeks}

photo 4

Target sweater/ Yargici tee

{37 weeks}

Red lips and dark nails are my beauty favorites. And somedays are just hat days. Even if it is not that cold out.

Mango raincoat/ Gap maternity  tee/ Accesorize scarf/ amazon.com boyfriend jeans/ Deichman booties

{38 weeks}

I am trying my best to keep my hair long after I have you… I got a haircut soon after I had O and deeply regretted it. But I am itching for a change! Also these booties and raincoat are in my top ten best purchases ever. I will wear these two items until they are threadbare. They are the basic pillars of  my mommy every day style!

How far along: 20 weeks

How big is baby: About the size of a banana

Weight gain: I honestly haven’t kept up with this as much as I have wanted to. But I think I’m on track.

Sleeping: It’s been hard to sleep. But it has not much to do with this baby as it does with her big brother (he’s been sick). No wonder I haven’t felt my second trimester burst of energy yet!

Food cravings:  I haven’t craved sweets at all this pregnancy, but this week I’ve had a crazy craving for hot cocoa. And red meat.

Food aversions: Nothing right now. I am still having a hard time with oatmeal in the mornings though.

Symptoms:  Heartburn, tail bone pain…

Miss Anything?: Not really.  Too busy to even think about it!

Doctor’s appointment: I go for my in-depth ultrasound this week. Last time I went everything was looking great!

Wedding Rings: Still on.

Clothes: Looking forward to wearing all the Fall stuff my friends have so graciously lent me. I am enjoying dressing this bump. My hips have widened too much this time around, so my maternity jeans fit a bit looser and I love it like that.

Movement: Baby girl moves around a lot at night and when big brother is around. (p.s.: I think she will adore him)

What I’m looking forward to: Decorating her room! I have a few ideas. We are tight on space and budget, but I know I can make it look decent for her.

What I did / Got for baby: Continuing my purge of O’s baby clothes ( 0- 3T). It’s boxes and boxes of clothes friends. I got her some onesies, socks and pants at carters.com. I was dying to buy the dresses and other cute stuff but I am sticking with the basics for now. Most of O’s basics were very boyish and it just wouldn’t work for our girl!

Prayer requests: Praying for energy and health. This bought of sickness has done me in!

How far along: 16 weeks

How big is baby: About the size of an avocado

Weight gain: I feel like I got really big really fast over the past few weeks. I’m at a 9 lbs weight gain. I hope

Sleeping: Heartburn has set in. And of course I still wake up a couple of times a night to go to the bathroom. I still get a solid night of sleep though, can’t complain.

Food cravings:  If I craved mostly healthy stuff during my first weeks of pregnancy, this past few weeks I have craved a lot of junk. Bacon. Chocolate. With the nausea going away in the past few days, I feel more in charge of my nutrition. I’ve been able to make healthier choices. I can eat eggs for breakfast again, or even oatmeal (my go-to breakfast before the nausea set in). So things are looking up!

Food aversions: I still have the occasional momentary aversion. One food sounds great in one moment and then awful the next. Other than that, I feel like I can eat anything.

Symptoms:  My old friend, acid reflux. I had it terribly with O. Here we go again. Good thing I know all the tricks!

Miss Anything?: My Lucky brand jeans. 🙂

Doctor’s appointment: I went to the doctor yesterday and she confirmed what she was thinking at my previous appointment: We are having our girl! We couldn’t be more thrilled. Baby girl is growing and doing really well. We had known for about the month the possibility that she was girl, so I was doing my best to hold off on looking at all the pretty girly things that’s out there. I just feel so blessed God is giving me the opportunity to be the mommy of a boy and a girl. Oliver is mostly excited about getting a baby sister. He’s just not sure about sharing a room with dirty diapers.

Wedding Rings: on.

Clothes: Most everything still fits, but I’ve chosen to wear loose clothing. For comfort, but also to hide that awful stage when it just looks like I’ve had one too many cupcakes. One of my maternity pants is fitting really well too. The others are a little too loose still.

Movement: Little tiny flutters, especially at night. Nothing that O or the husband can feel though.

What I’m looking forward to: buying girl clothes!

What I did / Got for baby: Started cleaning up O’s toys, we have a lot of rearranging to do.

What I learned this week: I am learning the hard lesson of doing less and being more. I’ll have a post on this soon.

Prayer requests: Praying for energy to continue my daily activities, to care for my family well while still making sure I’m not overdoing it.

The first trimester, baby #2

For various reasons, we chose to keep this pregnancy a secret from social media. We told our close friends and family around week eight. I tell you, it was hard to keep a secret because I was sick and exhausted for most of those eight to ten weeks! Very different from my first one!

Because we chose to keep things out of social media, I ended up doing a very poor job of documenting my bump in pictures. But let me tell you, my bump popped out WAY earlier this time around.

So, to document this pregnancy a bit better, I’m going to use these prompts every week (month?). Since I am already fourteen weeks along, here’s a compiled list of this first trimester:

How far along: first trimester!

How big is baby: about the size of a key lime

Weight gain: I gained about 5 pounds this first trimester. Wouldn’t it be nice if I only gained another 10 lbs?

Sleeping: I knew I was pregnant before I ever took a test by the several times I had to wake up to either eat or go to the bathroom. Just like when I was preggo with O.

Food cravings:  I craved feta cheese and tomatoes for most of the first month of this pregnancy. Until I remembered you’re not really supposed to have soft cheeses. Oops. Then nausea hit big time and no food sounded good ever.

Food aversions: Everything. Especially the foods I got sick from when I was expecting O. Like doner and iskender (two very common Turkish dishes).

Symptoms:  Nausea. Nausea. Nausea. Did I mention, nausea? I never felt this sick with O. Oh and extreme exhaustion. Again, don’t remember feelings this tired with O.

Miss Anything?: I miss my general sunny disposition in the mornings. But thankfully, it’s coming back. 🙂

Doctor’s appointment: I went to see the doctor at 5 weeks, all we saw was a tiny bean. She was worried there was a lot of blood, so she told me to take it easy for a week.  At six weeks, we got to hear the sweetest heartbeat and saw a little bean, growing healthy strong. I went again at ten weeks for some blood work and everything looked good! At twelve weeks, the family went together to see if we could learn the gender! She is ALMOST certain it’s a girl… We will know next time!

Wedding Rings: Still on! I never had to take them off with O’s pregnancy.

Clothes: Most everything still fits, but I’ve chosen to wear loose clothing. For comfort, but also to hide that awful stage when it just looks like I’ve had one too many cupcakes.

Movement: Nothing yet!

What I’m looking forward to: This second trimester. I want my energy back.

What I did / Got for baby: I have started to go through O’s old baby stuff ( I may or may not have gotten terribly sentimental over his little hat we brought him home in…)

What I learned this trimester: Zofran is my best friend. Oh and keep drink water, for I’ll have to go to the bathroom regardless.

Prayer requests: Thankful for a healthy first trimester. Praying that I’ll be able to eat well and exercise and keep my body healthy to grow this baby!
