We have so much going on with our upcoming move/trip, I haven’t had much desire to get ‘made up’ these days.
I’ve been keeping it simple with leggings, sweatshirts and ballet flats.
Here’s what I wore to Starbucks/errands this morning!
Shirt – gift from my sister (well, more like stolen from her)
Leggings – Mango
Flats – Deichmann
(I have encountered a good problem… I lost some weight so all of my pants are a bit too loose. Leggings have become my trusty companions. I hope I can carve out some time to alter some pants soon!)
Running errands in our city means lots and lots of walking, flats are a girl's best friend.

This is what I wore to one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen in my life. And I come from paradise people!
And no, I will not post a whole body picture of me in a swimsuit all over the internets. 😉 So this is what I wore: Swimsuit=Old Navy/ Scarf – vintage, gift/ Sunglasses – Koton
Last week while my sister was here, we got to visit a beach called Ilica near Cesme, Turkey. This gorgeous little piece of white sand and aqua blue water is right on the Aegean sea. My sister just loved it!
We also found time to stop by a yummy chinese restaurant in the city nearby. I hadn’t eaten chinese in a while and I’m so glad I got to enjoy it with my sister.

Like I mentioned on Friday, my sister is in country to visit me!!!
We have had a whirlwind of a time so far. We’ve toured Istanbul, I got to show her the city we live in (Bursa) and now we are in Izmir, enjoying some lovely weather. I was going to take pictures of what we wore everyday, but due to the heat, we only really wore shorts and a tee most days.
Yesterday evening though, after a long hot day of sightseeing Ephesus, we decided to clean up a little to go out to dinner. Here’s what we wore:
And, of course, I had to include one with our little photo bomber. 😉
Have a lovely Wednesday everyone! I’m off to enjoy the sun with my sweet family!

Hello there folks! Wednesday kinda snuck up on me this week. [insert cliche about time flying here]. Maybe it’s because my mind is too busy thinking of next week, when my sister finally comes see me here in Turkey!
It is been way too hot here, to the point I do not want to leave my air-conditioned room. That’s right, no central air here in Turkey land! So we spent the weekend cooped up inside our little living room, playing, knitting, watching movies… (i.e.: I didn’t really get “dressed” dressed)
Yesterday, however, we went to spend the day at a friend’s beach house. I wore a culturally appropriate yet cool (as in ‘not hot’) outfit. I just ended up loving the effortless vibe the asymmetrical shirt gave to the whole outfit.
Outfit deets: Shirt – so old I can’t remember/ Skirt – Target/ Necklace – Gift/ Shoes*
*no I did not go to my friend’s house barefoot. It’s just that in this culture we usually take our shoes off at the door, so I usually wait until I’m leaving to put my shoes on… Don’t worry, I wore a cute pair of flip flops to go with the relaxed vibe. 😉
Happy Wednesday everyone!

We got to spend some lovely down time with friends by the beach last week. We stayed at a nice all-inclusive, no cooking, no cleaning involved. And most importantly: diet coke with ice any time of day. If you live in Turkey, you know what a rare treat ice in your drinks can be!
I wish I had the husband take pictures of my other outfits, I have so much fun putting together vacation outfits. Alas, we were too busy lounging by the pool (i.e.: watching Oliver like a hawk in the kiddie pool). What I like about vacation outfits is that I feel like I can try new things without the commitment a new trend entails. Like when I was in Paris, or Rome, there are people from so many different places and different walks, who is going to notice the way you wrapped a pink scarf around your head? That’s exactly what I did. The husband loved the results and got a little snap-happy with the camera. If you know me, you know I have always loved a good head accessory.
However I don’t think I’ll be bringing the scarf trend back home from vacation. I believe Bursa isn’t ready for it. And I’m not ready for the stares. 😉
Denim shorts – are you tired of them yet? Good, cause I love ’em.
Top – Mango
Flip flops – Havaianas
Scarf – handmade here in Bursa.
Sunglasses – Koton
Bracelets – gift, local bazar, Koton

It’s been a crazy hot week here. We are trying to escape the heat by doing mostly inside activities, or outside activities either early morning or late evening. I love summer so much, but it always makes me extremely homesick for the crazy lazy summers of my childhood in my hometown.
I’m trying to keep my outfits creative, but needless to say comfort (when I can’t wear short shorts, short skirts, etc) has been my top priority.
Tomorrow is a big day in the Smith household… Potty training. I’ve read the books, I’ve bought the undies and treats. I’m freaking out for I have no idea of what’s coming my way. Wish me luck!

Good morning world! Well, it is good morning on my side of the world. For most of you it is still the middle of the night.
Saturday we took O to his first birthday party. As a guest, of course. For he was present at his own birthday parties 😉 . People here usually dress up a little when it comes to parties, so I figured O needed a little dressing up too. Check out his hair do please.
I had a hard time figuring out what to wear. I wanted to be cool (it was hot!) and comfortable (chasing a toddler is a work out!), so I remembered this dress in the back of my closet. I’ve had it for quite some time, but I still love it. Its a little long for my taste, but it’s an appropriate length for Turkey. I got it to go to a wedding, but I just dressed it down by pairing it with my beloved Havaianas.
Dress – Ipekyol
Sandals – Havaianas
Bag – gift
Necklace – gift
Sunglasses – Kotton
We ended up getting stuck in traffic on Sunday and didn’t make it home in time to go out for a casual Father’s Day dinner. So we postpone our celebration to Monday! I wore:
T-shirt – Local bazar
Pants – Mango (What can I do, I LOVE this store!)
Sandals – Steve Madden
Necklace – Kotton
Bag – Mango
Scarf – vintage
Close up of my new necklace. Ever since I saw Kendi wearing this aqua necklace I’ve been on the look out for something similar. I don’t have an Anthropologie near me and shoping online would cost me a fortune in shipping and handling fees. I forgot about it for a while. Then lately a lot of bloggers ( here and here) have been wearing this J.Crew inspired necklace, that had me wanting something aqua/turquoise again. All of a sudden it was like the piece that was missing in every outfit I tried to put together. I finally saw it this week at a local store here and just had to have it. I may still order the J.Crew necklace to wear when we get to America in October!
Have a lovely Wednesday!
